On March 8, we celebrated International Women's Day. To follow up on this important day and continue to celebrate women, we're shining the spotlight on one of our employees who makes a positive difference at the dealership every day. It's an opportunity to celebrate her achievements, resilience and impact, while continuing to promote gender equality in the automotive industry and beyond. In that spirit, we're honored to introduce you to Danyka Corrigan-Lebeau, Finance Director at Toyota Île-Perrot, who, through a short questionnaire, sheds light on her inspiring journey and unique perspectives.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in the automotive industry?
Since I was very young, I've nurtured my passion for cars thanks to my dad, who works in the field. When the opportunity to work at Toyota presented itself in 2015, I immediately jumped at it. My father's pride in his daughter, who shares the same passion as him, is above all what inspires and motivates me every day!
2. How could women's representation in management and leadership positions benefit the automotive industry as a whole?
Women bring a different approach to the automotive business, as well as a certain balance. They bring a new perspective to events and situations. Times are changing, and the automotive industry is no exception! I watch Sylvie, our General Manager, run the dealership, and it's great to see!
3. Can you share a memorable success or achievement you've achieved in your career in the automotive industry?
When I started as a service advisor in 2015, I had a good basic knowledge of automotive mechanics, but nothing more. In less than a year, I managed to achieve national sales records and a very high customer satisfaction rate. To this day, customers still ask for me when they come into the dealership! It's my greatest source of pride.
4. What advice would you give to young women aspiring to enter the automotive industry?
Don't be afraid, and above all stay true to yourself and your values. Never lose confidence in yourself. You're as capable as anyone else!
5. What changes or advances do you foresee in the future of the automotive industry, particularly with regard to the role of women?
I hope that more and more women will come on to the market and that there will be greater gender equality. Slowly, we're seeing a big improvement in working conditions such as work-life balance, and I hope things continue to move in that direction!
