The 2023 Toyota GR Supra Makes a Landmark Arrival

Did you put your seat belt on? You have to with the arrival of the 2023 Toyota GR Supra. It was after more than 20 years of absence that this legendary sports coupe made its big comeback in 2020 with a fifth-generation model. As for the GR Supra 2023, it arrives with several changes, especially in terms of its mechanics.

The mecanic

Indeed, the Supra will now be offered in two powertrains with the added bonus of a new six-speed manual transmission.

The GR Supra 3.0 will feature a 3.0-liter inline-5 engine that produces 382 horsepower and 367 lb-ft of torque, while the GR Supra 2.0 will feature a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter inline engine that develops 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

As for its new six-speed manual transmission, it is offered only on the GR Supra 3.0. Also, red sports pedals, a leather gaiter and a red Supra emblem will be added to the set.

However, an 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters will be available on both Supra models.

Also new for the Supra 3.0 version, it will be entitled to a new suspension setting and new shock absorbers which aim to improve body roll balance and ride comfort. Then, the software associated with the power steering will be adjusted.

Note that all 2023 GR Supra will be entitled to a traction control with revised settings, an improved braking system, a vehicle stability control system with anti-roll, and then the all-new Hairpin+ function.
The latter serves to make the freewheel in tight bends have a greater rotation, in order to increase driving pleasure. In addition, controlled skid driving has been improved thanks to the Track mode which has been adjusted.

An interior reminiscent of motor racing

We can find, in the cabin, an 8.8-inch digital dashboard, heated seats, two-zone air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as several carbon fiber trims reminiscent of a racing car.

Of course the 3.0 version will be entitled to the Toyota Supra navigation system. This technological suite includes automatic emergency call, roadside assistance, iPhone connectivity, as well as real-time traffic information.

Note that the GR Supra 3.0 will be equipped with a 12-speaker JBL audio system, while the GR Supra 2.0 will be equipped with a standard audio system and an 8.8-inch screen with rotary control.
