The Slovak company AeroMobil has been working on several prototypes since 1990. In 2010, the company did a video presentation of its 2.5 prototype until the current evolution of its 3.0 model. The AeroMobil 3.0 is the most advanced 4th generation product to date.
The AeroMobil 3.0 has been covered in several major medias such as Forbes, Popular Science, CNN, CNBC, Wired magazine, The Guardian and many others. And even with this extensive coverage, we overlook that this car/airplane concept could actually become part of our near future.
The AeroMobil 3.0
Is a two-passenger vehicle that takes off at 144 km/h. Its top speed on land is 160 km/h, with 198 km/h in the air. Its cockpit is equipped with all the aerospace instrumentation needed for safe navigation. Its autonomy is 700 km, and on arrival as at departure, the vehicle is transformed into car in a few minutes. An advanced parachute deployment system has also been incorporated in the event of incidents in the air.
Little is known about the AeroMobil 3.0, as the current prototype is still undergoing certification. Some experts estimate the price at a few hundred thousand dollars and the company hopes to start producing and selling it within two or three years.
To drive the AeroMobil 3.0, drivers will require an airplane pilot license, as well as a license to drive the car. To date, the AeroMobil has already certified with the Slovak Ultralight Federation.
Finally, as mentioned on the manufacturer's website, aeromobil.com, the AeroMobil 3.0 has actually been flying since 2014 and the company is considering taking orders this year.
