Earlier this month, Toyota revealed some images of its concept SUV, the FJ Cruiser EV, which originally made its first appearance in December 2021. The FJ Cruiser is part of the lineup electrification plans announced at the end from last year.
Plus, Toyota won the 2022 Car Design Award for Concept Vehicles, prompting the brand to unveil more images of the FJ Cruiser to our delight! Note that this is one of the most prestigious awards in the industry.
We can see that the FJ Cruiser borrows several design cues from the legendary Land Cruiser. This concept SUV adopts a more futuristic look than when it debuted, but it still retains its retro allure. We can see it with the grille that sports the Toyota inscription and a fairing associated with a skid plate. On the other hand, the black and diamond-cut wheels have a rather modern look. As for the bumper, it is covered with an aluminum-style skid plate.
Regarding the powertrain, it is very likely that the brand uses the same as for the bz4X.
For now, Toyota has not confirmed information on the production of the Compact Cruiser EV, but announced that by 2030, 30 electric models will be launched on the market.
