Unveiling of the 2020 Highlander

At the recent New York Auto Show, Toyota unveiled the 2020 Highlander ; the 4th generation of this intermediate family SUV.

The 2020 Highlander features a bold new design that focuses on safety, comfort, quality, durability and reliability. The new appearance of the Highlander is explained by the new global architecture of Toyota (TNGA-K), common to other models, that redefines the standards of capabilities, comfort and safety.

A second-row seating for 8 passengers is standard, while 7-seat captain's chairs are optional on the more upscale versions. Third row passengers enjoy excellent comfort thanks to the optional automatic three-zone temperature control that ensures a good flow of hot or cold air.

Motorization of the 2020 Highlander

The fourth-generation Highlander offers a powerful V6 engine or a new-generation hybrid powertrain. The gasoline version has a combined fuel consumption of 10.7 L / 100 km, compared to only 6.9 L / 100 km for the hybrid version (estimated). The improved hybrid version's fuel economy rating is 17% better than the current hybrid model and the best in its class.

The Highlander 2020 adheres to all roads with a choice of front-wheel drive or three optional all-wheel drive systems: two for V6 models and one all-wheel drive system for the Highlander Hybrid. On LE and XLE gasoline models, when the situation demands it, standard AWD can transmit up to 50 percent of available torque to the rear wheels.

Comfort and connectivity

The Highlander is very well equipped as standard. It is equipped with the standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 system, which includes, among others, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and the Lane Tracing Assist. It also offers compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.
